Same13 Conference
It is a pleasure and a honour for the Institute of Ecosystem Study (ISE) to co-organize the next "SAME13 - EMBO Conference on Aquatic Microbial Ecology" in collaboration with the Institute of Marine Science (ISMAR) and Microb&co Association (Services for Microbial Ecology).
SAME13 will embrace all aspects of microbiological research in aquatic ecosystems, gathering in Stresa the 300 of the most famous aquatic microbiologists, microbial ecologists, molecular biologists, metagenomic experts from all over the world. Following the successful events in various European locations, the XIII edition will be held at the Conference Palace of Stresa (a few kilometres away from the ISE headquarter of Verbania) in September 2013. SAME Conference is back to Italy after a very successful meeting in Taormina more than 10 years ago, and for the first time in its history it is hosted in a non-marine location. This will give to us the great chance to ISE to introduce and put more emphasis on the importance of freshwater ecosystems (lakes and rivers) in the global frame.
SAME13 is organized under the patronage of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), the International Society of Microbial Ecology (ISME), of the President of the National Research Council (CNR) and of several Italian scientific associations. It is supported by the Municipality of Stresa and by the Val Grande National Park, and by a number of local private companies.
SAME13 will limit the environmental footprint of the event, by including measures to reduce waste production, encourage reuse and recycling of materials and other initiatives.
SAME13 spots light on the 75 Anniversary of the ISE in Verbania, confirming the long-termed tradition of ISE in supporting and promoting environmental sciences at the highest standards. More info on SAME13 are available directly on the website of the Conference: www.same13.eu
